In addition to skating events and competitions, LJFSC members regularly participate in community outreach and service projects that support local organizations and families in need. These activities may include: San Diego Food Bank volunteer events, Valentine’s Day outreach activities, Halloween candy donation drives, etc. These opportunities help our skaters learn the importance of leadership, volunteerism, teamwork, and giving back to the community.

Student skater volunteers are recognized for their dedication and service with an official Volunteer Recognition Award Letter presented at the end of each skating season during the Annual Pool Party.

Parent volunteers are also greatly appreciated for the countless hours they contribute throughout the year. As a token of gratitude, parents may receive complimentary freestyle passes at UTC Ice based on accumulated volunteer hours earned through support of LJFSC events, including the La Jolla Open, Spring Show, Skate by the Sea, and Gala. Beginning July 1, 2026, parent volunteer hours will be tracked and recognized on a semi-annual basis during the following periods: January 1 – June 30 and July 1 – December 31.

Parents are asked to record volunteer hours under their skater’s EntryEeze account. Please include: Date of volunteer service, Number of hours completed, Description indicating “Parent Volunteer Hours” and the associated event. Volunteer hours should be submitted by June 30 or December 31 for the applicable reporting period. Complimentary freestyle passes will be distributed during the month following each reporting period.
